D'or Hadash Events (6th-7th grade) | PARTY Events (8th-12th grade)

 

Congregation Beth Israel has two active youth groups for the 6th-12th graders in the CBI community: PARTY for our 8th-12th graders and D'or Hadash for our 6th and 7th graders. Both have activities throughout the year, so check back often for information on upcoming events.
 

Dor Chadash 7 Oct17

D'or Hadash - 6th-8th grade

D'or Chadash is our junior youth group for students in 6th - 7th grade. We offer monthly events where we can build friendships and explore our Judaism through fun and exciting activates. Dor Chadash does everything from social action projects to laser tag! We are also proud to offer leadership opportunities for 8th grade students as they transition from middle to high school.

Fun at Fazio Farms

October 29

Our first Dor Chadash event of the new year will be on October 29th following Religious School classes. We will be going to Fazio Farms in NE Portland for a corn maze, tractor ride and pumpkin picking! Carpool will be arranged from CBI to Fazio and pick up for the event will be at Fazio Farms at 3:15 PM. Cost is $10 per participant (scholarships available).

PARTY (Portland Area Reform Temple Youth) - 8th-12th grade

PARTY 3 Oct17

"Portland Area Reform Temple Youth” (PARTY) is CBI's youth group for 8th-12 graders. Participation gives high school students (and 8th graders!) a chance to make friends with other Jewish teenagers! The youth group sponsors programs ranging from social enrichment, worship, and social action events. PARTY is the local chapter of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and belongs to the NFTY Northwest Region. Through our connect to NFTY, we are able to not only connect with our local peers, but also travel to meet people on a regional, national, and even international level! Party at Fazio Farms

October 22

What is NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth)?

NFTY is the larger, reform North American youth movement, whose umbrella PARTY falls under. NFTY is a movement that builds strong, welcoming, inspired communities through teen-powered engagement. Together, NFTY pursues tikkun olam, personal growth, youth empowerment, and deep connections, all rooted in Reform Judaism. We participate in both regional and North American programming. Our region, NFTY Northwest, has 4 weekend retreats a year which take place around the Pacific Northwest. We travel as a group, usually via bus. Teens register to attend events on the NFTY NW website. Registration usually opens up a couple weeks before the event. NFTY NW is also part of the larger NFTY North American programming. Within this type of programming, we have the opportunity to travel to NFTY Convention every-other year. This is a 5 day convention where thousands of teens and youth educators meet. This upcoming year, the convention will be held in Chicago. There are always scholarships available, please contact me if you are interested!

PARTY has 3 different, all equally, awesome shirts available for sale! We offer vintage, limited edition, PARTY hat shirts. We also have grey-blue shirts featuring our lovely mascot, Princess Phillipe the PARTY Penguin. Finally our new shirts are here! Long sleeve, white, PARTY PDX skyline shirts! Please contact Chelsea if you would like one! Money goes towards supporting the youth group and helping future events happen!
